From June 28 to August 9, 2026, Accesso Galleria in Pietrasanta presents “Sally Gall. Vertical World”, the new photographic series by the American artist, exhibited for the first time in a solo show in Italy.

The exhibition features ten medium- and large-scale photographs (66 × 102 cm and 84 × 127 cm), produced as archival pigment prints and dedicated to some of the most monumental rock faces of the western United States, explored through a research that investigates the boundary between photographic documentation and abstraction.

Gall’s images, characterized by a strong chromatic intensity, evoke painterly suggestions reminiscent of Clyfford Still and Helen Frankenthaler, yet originate from an inspiration born during a trip to the Grand Canyon. A rafting descent prompted the artist to travel in search of similar landscapes to capture. The rock walls depicted in the exhibition portray various canyons of the American West—such as the Colorado Plateau, the red rock canyons of Utah, and the striking vistas typical of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico—and aim to convey a new perception of the rocky landscape: not as a static or inert surface, but as a living, transforming organism shaped by slow and continuous geological processes.

Fractures, stratifications, and mineral traces become active elements of a visual narrative that transcends mere description.

While maintaining a documentary approach, Sally Gall’s work tends toward abstraction. The removal of spatial references—such as the horizon line—and the reduction of compositional elements—through the minimization of shadows and highlights—lead the image into a suspended state, where the landscape transforms into a painterly surface.

Gall’s photography remains faithful to the observed reality: nothing is added or removed. Her research focuses on the ability to render the real as a perceptual experience rather than a mediated representation.

“My aim,” the artist states, “is to photograph the Earth in action—a sculptural world shaped by wind, rain, and time. An infinitesimally slow action, difficult to conceive because it does not relate to human time.”

With Vertical World, Sally Gall offers a reflection on the perception of the natural landscape, inviting the viewer not only to reconsider the vitality of the Earth but, more broadly, to rediscover the extraordinary within the ordinary, the poetic within the everyday.

Accesso Galleria is celebrating an important milestone with the exhibition “15 Year Anniversary Show”. The show hosts 6 of its longstanding artists, 5 of whom have been working with the Gallery for over 10 years. Alongside their recent works, each artist is showing older works.

For the opening of the Summer Season 2026, Accesso Galleria is celebrating an important milestone with the exhibition entitled “15 Year Anniversary Show”. Accesso Galleria opened in May 2011 as a pop-up gallery in a small space in Pietrasanta. During the first season, however, the decision was made to remain as a permanent gallery.

In 2013 the Gallery moved to a larger space where it has remained since.
To mark this anniversary, Accesso Galleria is hosting a show with six of its longstanding artists, five of whom have been working with the Gallery for more than 10 years. The artists, from Italy, Germany and the United States, all have had solo shows with the Gallery as well as joined in numerous group exhibitions.
Three of the artists have participated in Venice Biennales.

The show has a particular curatorial focus: alongside their recent works, each artist is showing older works. The show intends to be a reflective look at the mutual journey the Gallery has shared with these artists and the art they have created. For the Gallery, it has been a journey of growth, trial and error, laughter and tears, ups and downs and bonds created with not only artists but also the many friends we have made and who have joined us on this voyage.

The participating artists are the following:

Paolo Amico (worked with since 2013)
Amico is showing new drawings in ballpoint pen on paper of scenes of Pietrasanta. His older drawings include interiors of Gothic cathedrals and street scenes of various European cities.

Sabatino Cersosimo (worked with since 2015)
Cersosimo is showing a new large-format painting in oil and oxidation on steel. His older works will include smaller paintings in the same materials.

Peter Simon Mühlhäusser (worked with since 2011)
Mühlhäusser is showing a new figurative bust in Lasa marble. His older works
include sculptures in bronze and aluminium.

Kelly Robert (worked with since 2021)
Robert is showing a new figurative sculpture in wood. Her older work is a sculpture in bronze.

Amber Sena (worked with since 2012)
Sena is showing a new drawing in pencil and charcoal on paper. Her older works include paintings in oil and acrylic on panel.

Bruno Walpoth (worked with since 2014)
Walpoth is showing a new sculptures and bronze. His older sculptures are in lead and iron.
